Lima, Peru Mission's Team Updates
July 8 - 18, 2005

Drama ministry in a village
Friday, July 15
Today the team went to the schools and performed their dramas. The first school they visited was a public school. They were actually able to take the Book of Hope into the school. The contact the team is working with also works with the Book of Hope. They were able to do their dramas, share with the students, and then had time to pass out the Book of Hope to them. They said that it was incredible. The team knew that Bethel would appreciate knowing about this since we partner with that ministry. They are going to one more school today and then will moved on to another church service this evening.
Everyone on the team is in good health. The Peruvian people have been so hospitable toward them. Many of their contacts have invited them to eat at their homes. They have built many relationships and they shared that the people of Peru have such warm and accepting hearts. The team thanks everyone for their prayers and asks us to continue to pray for them.

At 6:00 a.m. this morning the team went to a youth and young adult prayer meeting and God moved in phenomenal ways. They said that it was awesome to see at least 50 youth and young adults hungry for God and seeking His face. They meet every Thursday morning at 6:00 a.m. for prayer. Later in the day the team went to an orphanage where the police take children, between the ages of newborn to 18, who are abused or abandoned. The team was able to minister to them through drama and they were also able to give away toys, stuffed animals, and even the cross necklaces that the children at Bethel made. The children loved the necklaces.
Tonight the team went to a very poor church that was about 1 hour outside of Lima. They actually had to hike up the side of a mountain to get to it. The view was breathtaking. It overlooked the city of Lima. They were able to minister to the people and watch as the fire of God fell on the people. One man was deaf in one ear and, after the team prayed for him, he could hear. Praise God!!! The fire of God just fell on people. It was awesome.
Wednesday, July 13
The team did street ministry and ministry at schools. They had five sites where they were able to minister to children. The first site was at a public elementary school. Many of the students prayed that they would feel God’s love and prayed that He help to them change. The second site was at a private school for students ages 12-16. There were some salvations and the team let them in a prayer for them to know God more. The third site was a park and the fourth site was in an open market. Many people gathered to watch and listen and the team was able to pray with some of them for salvation and healing. The next site was back at the first school but this time they ministered to the older students. Sandy led them in a prayer to know God more. The last stop was at a small church where they did kids ministry. There were about 100 kids at the church. The team was able to share with them about the Lord and they said that it was awesome to see so many children in one place listening intently about what they had to share out the Lord. They also prayed for the pastor who has a great heart for children. Nelson, Eric and Garrett (one of their team leaders in Peru) prayed for an older lady who had cancer and pain in her back and legs. After they prayed for her they asked her if she felt any more pain and all she said was that she “felt FIRE!!!” The pain was gone. Our God is so awesome. This team is impacting Peru for God in powerful ways. Please continue to pray for our team for health and strength. There are a few team members who have not been feeling well so please continue to pray for good health for everyone on the team!
Tuesday, July 12
Today the team was supposed to go to a women's prison, however, they were denied access. Please keep praying that doors will open for them to minister in the prison as that prison has never had a team visit and minister the Word of God. Instead of going to the prison they went and did street ministry in front of the Peruvian Supreme Court. Many people came to watch the dramas. There were salvations and recommitments to Christ, they had opportunity to give out Bibles, and they also prayed for the sick. Two policemen came to ask the team to leave, however, they decided that they could stay and continue with their ministry. After watching the dramas, the policemen also asked for Bibles. They told the team that they could only minister for 15 minutes, however, they allowed them to stay for 50 minutes.
In the evening the team went to the cross at Chorrillos where they prayed over the city of Lima. It is a high point that overlooks the city and the ocean. They went to dinner with their Peruvian friends and translators, Nino and Luisa Escudero. It was "muy rico," which means very good. They had a wonderful time of food and fellowship in their home. They allowed the team access to their computer to send updates to Bethel. Continue to pray for strength and health as the team continues to pour out and for the Lord to give each of them what they need each day to do the work that He has called them to do.
Monday, July 11
Last night the team visited a church outside of Lima. Nelson preached on John 15:1-10 about staying closed to God. They had a time around the altar where many people came forward for healing and salvation. One girl with a chronic cough was healed and many others were also healed and touched by God. After the service they invited the team for a meal and fellowship. The team was greatly blessed by their generosity and love toward them.
Today the team went to another very poor church in Ventanilla. Nelson preached and shared about God’s love. There was a lady with ear and liver problems and after a time of prayer, she was pain-free!! They prayed for many sick babies and they also prayed for a girl who had many issues including fear and abuse. She smiled at Sandy as the team was leaving which confirmed to them that there was a breakthrough in her life that evening.
Sunday, July 10
Last night the team held a young adult service with a couple hundred young adults. They were hungry and seeking God. God was among them and moved in a mighty way. Today they went to the church they are working with to have a morning service with the youth and young adult leaders. Sandy Study taught and then there was an altar time. There were about 100 cell group leaders there. Tonight they are going to a church outside of Lima and Nelson Seibel will be preaching. They are expecting miracles and the fire of God.
The team members are all doing well. Please pray that they stay in good health and that God gives them strength when they are tired. Also, please pray for their contact's son, Rodrigo, who became ill when they arrived.
Saturday, July 9
The team arrived in Lima, Peru last night around midnight. They had a slight delay because they had to go around the bad weather related to Hurricane Dennis. The team members are all doing well.
Today they went outside the city of Lima to a small poor church. They were met by at least 150 children and they sang songs and played games with the children. They did their drama and talked to them about Jesus and then had time to pass out stuffed animals and little rubber soccer balls to all the children. From there they went to a marketplace where they did street ministry and their drama on the street which attracted at least 75 people. Eric Seibel preached the word and talked about the drama. Forty-five people accepted Christ and they gave an invitation for people to come for prayer. They prayed for a variety of sicknesses and needs. While they were praying for one lady who had ovarian problems, another lady from the church that is helping our team had a vision. She was watching from a distance and really did not know what was happening but she was having this vision as she watched the team pray for the woman. As they were praying, the woman from the church said she saw rivers of water washing over her ovaries. When they finished praying she talked to the woman and asked if the problem was with her ovaries, and it was confirmed. They believe that God has done a healing work. It was awesome! Tonight they will be holding a service for young adults at Cathedral de Fe.
