Jeremiah was a man of God who spoke the Word of God and not his own. He preached that same Word for multiple decades and his audience neither approved of his message or accepted it. It really didn't matter because it was God's Word and not Jeremiah's. It was God's infallible and unchanging Word and not simply a man's pacifying rhetoric. His ministry would have been viewed by many as a failure. His ministry efforts appeared to yield no converts and he was the subject of ridicule and rejection. He probably would not have been invited to be the keynote speaker at a church growth conference. He was called by God and he was equipped by God, to do what God had called him and placed him on this earth to do. Neither his timing nor his message were mistakes. No one called by God needs man's consent to declare the unchanging Word of God and no one called by God has His consent to preach the word of men.
Today God's Word will be declared and many will seek out their preferred flavor but no matter the messenger there will never be another or better Gospel.
JEREMIAH 1
4 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;
Before you were born I sanctified you;
I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
6 Then said I:
“Ah, Lord God!
Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.”
7 But the Lord said to me:
“Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’
For you shall go to all to whom I send you,
And whatever I command you, you shall speak.
8 Do not be afraid of their faces,
For I am with you to deliver you,” says the Lord.
9 Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me:
“Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.
10 See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms,
To root out and to pull down,
To destroy and to throw down,
To build and to plant.”
